New Year, New Me?

Hey Loves,

I know it’s such a cliche but is it effective? There’s something about the new year that resets everything for me. After January 1st, you find that even though you feel the same, there is a type of buzzing excited energy in the air. I am obsessed with new beginnings, Mondays and that whole feeling of starting a new chapter. I know in the past when the New Year would begin, I would have an extremely long list of all of the things I wanted to do. That would get me super motivated, but then a couple of weeks later, I would fall off the wagon. It starts slowly, but then the excuses pile on as to how you are too busy to accomplish that task and then that trickles into other things and next thing you know, you’re in a downward spiral and resorting to your bad habits. Time and time again, I would get down on myself as to why I was falling into these negative habits, but as the years have gone on, I started to invest in the systems. I paid attention to what felt natural to me and my lifestyle. For example, I love to work out in the morning. I’m at the place where it’s still a struggle to work out, so I feel that if I do the thing that I am not really too excited about in the morning, then at least I got it out of the way. I know, not the healthiest outlook, but I’m being honest. I never regret the workout after, but the excuses are endless sometimes before I begin.

This year I did things a little differently. The last couple of weeks of December 2024, I focused on resetting my life. Little by little, I focused on organizing different areas in my life. One of the areas I organized was my home. Having kids and a busy lifestyle, it’s easy to put things off for another day. Sometimes it’s easier to focus and get that thing done before it becomes this mental load that is weighing down on you. For me it was my closet, it was a mess, nothing was on the ground, but it was too full with things I didn’t wear anymore. Those items were taking up space so the items that I did wear were stuck in random places and couldn’t be seen. It wasn’t a good system and I decided to change it up. I organized and created a system that works for me and now when I open my closet, I don’t feel this dread. I can go into more detail on what I did in a later post. Health was also a big factor and feeling physically healthy has been a major goal for many years. I have been going to Pilates for the past 6 months and this year, I started focusing on walking a mile every day. I am intentional about walking that one mile every day and I hope by March I can be at five miles. Becoming more intentional with what I am eating, what I am consuming, the conversations I am having, and what I am doing has been the biggest blessing because these can be really minimal changes but they can be impactful in fulfilling that goal.

New year resolutions don’t have to be this big overhaul of a completely new life (it can be if that’s your goal), but for most of us it’s adding small changes and habits gradually so that it is more sustainable. Even if you don’t believe in big resolutions, I found it helpful to create a list highlighting things you want to do this year. It can be as long as you want it or it can be one item. That is totally up to you, but having a clear intention on what type of energy or habits you want to bring into your life can set you up for success. As the famous quote says, ” If you fail to plan, you plan to fail,” and girly you are too fabulous to fail!

I hope that everyone has an amazing 2025 and I am really excited to be connecting back with you all. Everyone’s goals and the lifestyles they want to lead and the women they want to be is different but I hope that by creating habits and systems that benefit you, it gets you closer to the life of your dreams.

Lots of Love,

Sahar
